Halloween is my husband’s and my favorite holiday. We decorate on October 31 and try to scare the neighbor kids and then take it all down again that night. We keep the scary elements high and at eye level to the bigger “kids” so we have never made a little one cry that I know of. It’s fun to hear the big kids scream and the little ones laugh when their parents jump. I really hated to be scared when I was little and Halloween was ruined after the first scary house so I don’t want that experience for our neighbors. This year it’s on a Wednesday so we won’t get very many visitors but I hate to disappoint even one so we will be thinking about what to do for the next several weeks and while we do I’ll be making Halloween cards. Hmm, maybe I’ll make treat boxes for the first few visitors.
Today I made a Halloween card inspired by the MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge. This is the first time I have participated and I think I did pretty good. I love the cards other people do that use the sketch as a guide and do all kinds of imaginative things but I stuck to it pretty literally for my first card.
I started by stamping the images onto the card stock and then masking them and using a finger dauber to add the orange and yellow Distress Oxides to create a halo around the images then I colored them with copic markers and used the multiliner to darken the eyes and noses. Next I placed a circle die upside down over the first image with a piece of low tack tape under it but facing up. I very carefully placed another piece of card stock over the stamped piece and pressed so the tape would stick the die in place. I ran it through the Big Shot and then repeated the process for the 2nd circle. I then added the orange and yellow inks to a scrap piece of paper and stamped the sentiment and cut down to the desired width. I glued it to the front and trimmed the ends to fit. I added foam tape to the edges and center of the die cut piece and adheared it to the stamped card. Then just added it to the card base. I had a lot of fun making this card and it was quick and easy.
