Bag Ladies (Beginner): 2 Cute Pouches with Zippers

July 18 @ 10:00 am6:00 pm
$25

This is a guided sew-along session for beginner-level sewists who want to build their skills while making a variety of bags. Bring your sewing machine, basic notions, and choice of fabric with coordinating thread for these projects.

We will be making two zippered pouches. One will be unlined with a small internal binding to hide the raw edges and one will be fully lined. Both will be machine quilted.

We will be building the following skills: precise measuring and cutting with rulers and rotary cutters, sewing with multiple seam allowances, machine quilting, zipper installation, and binding.

Required Materials:

  • Two 12″ zippers (premade or zipper tape with extra slide pulls)
  • Coordinated fabrics – 4 recommended prints and/or solids
  • Fusible (iron-on) interfacing – medium weight (not foam interfacing)
  • Coordinated thread

Bring your own sewing machine and basic notions (bobbins, machine needles, scissors, pins or clips, etc.

PLEASE TEST YOUR MACHINE TO BE SURE IT’S IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION BEFORE YOU ATTEND CLASS – there is not enough time to trouble shoot or try to fix your machine during class.
